About Dreeemwave

Electronic music producer and VST plugin developer with a passion for creating innovative sounds and tools

The Story

I'm Dr Alex Stamatiadis, the person behind Dreeemwave. With a PhD in algorithmic music generation from the University of Sheffield and postdoctoral research experience at the University of Picardy, my work outside music-making sits at the intersection of cognitive science, statistical analysis, and audio technology.

My journey began with formal education in statistics and cognitive science but music has always been the driving force in my life. My doctoral research focused on understanding what makes melodies pleasing to listeners through quantifiable cognitive and musical properties - work that directly informed the development of Bassliner.

What started as academic research quickly captured the attention of the music production world, eventually leading to a collaboration and development with the industry-leading plugin company Cableguys. During its early beta testing phase, Bassliner unexpectedly went viral across music production communities, including the #1 music production blog Bedroom Producers Blog, eventually reaching studios of multiplatinum artists and multiple "best of the year" plugin charts, such as dB Institute's.

Beyond charting in software as a developer and on the Greek radio as a music producer, my work as a scientist has also charted in the Top Papers List of Elsevier's SSRN with the paper "Neural Encoding of Auditory Rhythm Beyond Cortical Auditory Areas Before the Age of Term".

Through Dreeemwave, I continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in music technology, guided by a lifelong commitment to the deepest understanding of both the science and art of music. Every project, whether it's a new track or a VST plugin, is approached with the same philosophy: create something that inspires emotion and pushes the culture forward.
